Department of Community Medicine is currently situated in its temporary location at Arasalar campus. Two Primary health Centers (Neravy & Kovilpatu) have been permitted only for teaching and training activities of undergraduate students and interns of JIPMER karaikal.

Academic

Undergraduate students currently spend five semesters at JIPMER karaikal and join other students at JIPMER Puducherry when they reach their 6^th Semester. They have a community diagnosis posting in 3^rd Semester wherein they learn about survey methods and clinical examination in community settings and principles of public health interventions as part of comprehensive health care.  Besides this, they have field visits, theory sessions and practical sessions to improve their learning experience.
