PMR Department

The PMR Department has been functional in JIPMER since 1986. The PMR OPD is functioning regularly since Feb 2012 and indoor services resumed from August 2013. Presently, because of ongoing renovation work, in-patient services are suspended temporarily

The Physiotherapy Section and the Occupational therapy Section started in JIPMER in the year 1966 under Orthopaedics Department. In addition to routine duties, therapists also attend special clinics like CP clinic/Poliomyelitis clinics. The Orthotic section was started in 1968 and it provides different types of orthoses to the patients. Prosthetics section is functioning since 1986 at PMRC block. Amputees who are referred by various Departments through consultant of PMR are fitted with appropriate prosthesis.

The PMR department is delinked from the Orthopedics department since 1^st Jan 2019.
