Medical Records Department (MRD)
In JIPMER Hospital, Medical Records Department has been introduced since the inception i.e. on 3rd April, 1966. This Medical Records Department is a Centralized System for preserving the Medical Records of Out-patient as well as In-Patient by using the Unit Numbering System, a single number is assigned to a new patient which is called Hospital Number. This number is common to all the department of the Hospital irrespective of whether the patient is out-patient or in-patient. There will be one series, for both Male and Female out-patient section. The patient is provided only with a Hospital Number Card or Identity Card, which should be retained by the patient. The same number is used by the patients for their subsequent visits.
