CRITICAL CARE MODULE:

Services:

The services include equipment planning; pre-installation and acceptance testing; corrective maintenance for breakdown calls; inspection and planned preventive maintenance; technical training for clinical staff; management of vendor services; equipment inventory management; equipment disposal; assessing safety, clinical fitness of medical equipment and emergency on-call service support.

Quality Detection Analysers/Tools/Simulators:

The Division incorporates various Quality Detection Analyzers/testing Simulators used for troubleshooting and to execute preventive maintenance for critical care equipment. The Analyzers/Simulators are Gas flow Analyzers for Ventilator; Electrical Safety Analyzers for electronic equipment/electrical outlet; Defibrillator Analyser for Defibrillators; Electrosurgical Analyser for Surgical diathermy etc.

Major event in the Division

A) Asset Management System

Successfully handling and maintaining AMS database. The purchase of all new equipment is entered in database and asset codes are generated which is linked in maintenance module hence it is easy to maintain the life history of each equipment

B) Centralized maintenance of CMC for ventilators. We execute Comprehensive maintenance contract on timely manner and maintain the Ventilators supplied in Phase III project supply which are located in Old hospital block, Super specialty block, EMS block, WCH block and equipment’s received in COVID block.

C) Centralized purchase of consumables for Ventilator: We purchase various essential consumables required to run all the ICU Ventilators. With the materials on hand, we in-house team effectively supports all ICU in having their Ventilators in working condition with no downtime and the breakdown maintenance is successfully executed without depending on the manufacturer except spare support from service provider.

D) Centralized purchase of consumables for Syringe Pumps & Defibrillators: We purchase various essential consumables required to run all the Syringe Pumps and defibrillators. With the materials on hand, we in-house team effectively supports all ICU in having their Defibrillators and syringe pumps in working condition with no downtime and the breakdown maintenance is successfully executed without depending on the manufacturer except spare support from service provider.

New Services:

E) Organising COVID ICU at SSB Annex, SSB ICU complex and Institute Block

Actively participated in setting up the COVID block (SSB Annexure). After approval from competent authority in the Covid task force committee, around 160 equipment of worth more than 1 crore asset were mobilized from various departments of JIPMER and all these were successfully checked and handed over in working condition at COVID block for the treatment of COVID-19 outbreak.

We have received 350 medical equipment’s at COVID block during the period November 2020 to March 2021 including Ventilators, Syringe Pumps, Multipara Monitors, Oxygen concentrators, BIPAP ventilators and pulse oximeters. We successfully handled the pre-installation and distribution of all equipment’s to other departments.

F) Hands on Training sessions on usage of lifesaving equipments:

As a part of COVID management, conducted hands on training sessions on usage of critical care equipments such as Ventilators, Defibrillators, oxygen concentrators and Multipara Monitors in different batches to all the newly posted nursing and anesthesia technical staffs.
