The Central Animal House of JIPMER facilitates the use of animals for teaching, training and research. Considering the increased demand, the animal house currently undergoes modernization and up-gradation following the guidelines by the CPCSEA, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate change, Govt of India, New Delhi. The new, state-of-the art animal house building is nearing completion. It has a ground floor + 4 floors with a total plinth area are 5604 square meters. It will have both small animals (Rat, Mouse, Guinea pig, Rabbit and Hamster) as well as large animals (Swine and Sheep) research and training facilities, which will provide scientific services and animal resources to students and researchers. The entire facility is centrally air conditioned with HVAC system, with clean and dirty corridor concept with pressure gradients. It is also planned to establish imaging facilities, cath lab and operation theaters. This central facility is managed by the department of Pharmacology. Contact details:
