Ways to avoid Plagiarism

  1. Awareness: Many incidences of plagiarism occur due to lack of awareness especially among beginners. Although issues of plagiarism occur even among experienced workers, creating awareness at an early stage of one’s career would inculcate good ethical writing habits among them.
  2. Avoid accepting co-authorship without verifying the contents of the manuscript: In many instances when senior authors are accused of plagiarism in a manuscript written by their students, they deny with an excuse that they have not been actively involved in the project or in the preparation of the manuscript. Such excuses are seldom accepted.
  3. Use softwares to check your manuscript: There may occur some unintentional similarities to published literature. It is always advisable to check your manuscript using online softwares to check for plagiarism.
