In-Patient Services

There are 64 sanctioned in-patient general ward beds. In addition , patients are admitted to emergency wards and special wards. Available surgical facilities in the department are: trauma surgery for routine and complex trauma including spinal injuries (state of the art internal fixation techniques are used); correction of congenital and acquired deformities using complex corrective procedures like Ilizarov technique; hip and knee total joint replacement; knee arthroscopy and Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction; limb salvage reconstruction after bone tumor resections (custom mega prostheses); resection and extracorporeal irradiation and reimplantation for malignant bone tumours (only centre in India carrying out this procedure); spinal surgeries like antero-lateral decompression, anterior decompression, discectomy, posterior instrumentation and fusion for spondylolisthesis;  poliomyelitis and cerebral palsy corrective procedures.

Out-Patient Services


Monday to Saturday: 8.00 AM to 1.00 PM.

Registration of new patients till 12 Noon

Location:  No. 64 old OPD block

OPD services are NOT available on all JIPMER holidays and SUNDAYS


Unit I (OPD)Monday, Wednesday,Friday.

Unit II (OPD) Tuesday,Thursday,Saturday.

Patients seen by a unit will be followed up by the same unit

Cerebral Palsy/Poliomyelitis / neurological disorders Clinic              (Weekly) All Tuesdays PMRC Block IInd floor

BoneTumor Clinic (Fortnightly) in collaboration with departments of  Pathology, Radiodiagnosis,  Radiotherapy and  Medical Oncology (2nd and 4th Friday 2:00pm to 4:00 pm) Seminar Room PMRC Block
