NICU – Quality improvement at a glance

The Department of Neonatology has been at the forefront of continuous Quality Improvement (QI) in JIPMER, with various QI projects resulting in an almost 2/3rds reduction in neonatal deaths between 2014 and 2016, with a corresponding decline in bloodstream infection, a major cause of neonatal mortality in India. These results have been achieved against the headwinds of increasing live births, preterm births and NICU admissions.
