Ms. K. Manochitra, (CSIR-SRF) Research Scholar, working under Dr. S. C. Parija, Director, Sr. Professor of Microbiology, JIPMER has received the award for “Young Investigator from India and Southeast Asia” and Travel Grant sponsored by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation at the 17th International Congress on Infectious Diseases (ICID-2016), presented by International Society for Infectious Diseases, held at Hyderabad, India from March 2 to 5 2016. This award was presented for her work on “Detection of Entamoeba dispar and Entamoeba moshkovskii DNA in Liver abscess pus: Newer perspectives to be considered in diagnosis of amoebiasis”.

A part of her work entitled “A multi-centric hospital based study on molecular epidemiology and genetic diversity of Entamoeba species in India”received a Bursary award and was presented in the Infectious Disease Genomics (IDG-2015) conference organised by Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Hinxton, Cambridge, UK.
